Bio
Born to Howard and Maria Stark, well known as the owners of Stark Industries, Anthony Stark proved to be a child that would quickly follow in his father’s footsteps. The young Stark showed a fascination in building and controlling machines early in his life. At the age of fifteen Tony entered the undergraduate electrical engineering program at MIT [Massachusetts Institute of Technology] and graduated with two master’s degrees by the age of nineteen. Afterwards he went to work for Stark Industries until he was twenty one and inherited the company when his parents were killed in a car accident.

While personally attending a field test of his newest military hardware, he is kidnapped by a terrorist group led by Sin-Cong revolutionary Wong Chu. During the attack a land mine went off and lodged a piece of the shrapnel near Tony’s heart. Upon waking up in his cell that he shares with Professor Ho Yinsen, Tony is informed that the two have been kidnapped to make weapons for Wong Chu and his terrorists. Knowing that he couldn’t live long with the shrapnel so close to his heart, Tony purposes instead of the weapons they create a battle suit that he had been developing making sure to equip it with a magnetic field generator to prevent the shrapnel from reaching Tony’s heart. The two create the first generation of the Iron Man suits which was spotty and crude to say the least but lead to Tony’s freedom and return to the USA with the help of James “Rhodey” Rhodes.

As one could guess, Tony was not fond of the new chest plate he had to wear constantly and constantly keep charge, but he managed to keep it a secret from anyone. It was here where the playboy’s drinking turned into a problem and he became suicidal, but once supported and told to become a Superhero by his current ex-fiancé Joanna Nivena. After calling off his engagement, Tony worked to improve the Iron Man armor.

Tony played a dual-role with the creation of the Avengers, as the sponsor and as the hero Iron Man and was also a founding member along with Thor, Ant-man, the Wasp and the Hulk until he comes across the body of Captain America, and once he’s revved becomes a teammate and important friend to Tony. He also helped establish the super-secret-spy agency S.H.I.E.L.D.

Abilities
Unlike most superheroes, Tony has no real physical super [human] powers. However he does possess a genius-level intellect which allowed him to become the “hero” Iron Man. He is an expert in mathematics, physics, chemistry , and computer science as well as electrical engineering and mechanical engineering. It is with this supreme level of intellect that Tony continues to build better and more efficient models of the Iron Man suit that better forms to his body [until he creates The Bleeding Suit].

The Iron Man suit possesses a powered armor that gives him a superhuman type strength as well as durability, the ability to fly, as well as an array of weapons. The weapons change over the years but the suits always have the repulse rays that are fired from the palms of his gauntlets, the uni-beam projector in its chest, pulse bolts, electromagnetic pulse generator, and a defensive energy shield. Some other models include freeze-beams, creation and manipulation of magnetic fields, sonic blasts and 3-D holographic decoys.
As well as the ability to simply fly around, while breaking the speed of sound, the suits are also later tweaked to allow space travel, deep-sea diving, stealth and many others. The Hulkbuster suit for example is armor composed of add-ons of his modular armor, designed to enhance its strength and durability enough to engage the Hulk in a fight. Another designed for fighting Thor uses a mystical power as a source. Tony also creates electronic packs that when attached to the suits will burn out the components and render them useless; however this seems to fail with the later models.

For a short time, due to his artificial nervous system, having been installed after his natural one is damaged, Tony had “super-human” like acute sensory perceptions as well as an extraordinary awareness of the physical processes within his own body.
After being injured, Tony injects his nervous system with a modified techno-organic virus-like body restructuring machines called the Extremis. And by rewiring his own biology, he was able to save his life as well as gain an enhanced healing factor and partially merging himself to the Iron Man suits. This allows him to control the suits with his brain and become a human-made technopath in a sense. Some components of the armor are stored in Tony’s body and appear on his skin when thought.

Beyond the smarts and the suit, Tony was also trained in hand-to-hand combat by his friend Happy Hogan, a professional boxer, Steve Rogers and James Rhodes.
